Cripple Creek Rally:
August 2007 (Cripple Creek, Colorado) - Dedicated to saluting the
men and women who lost their lives and freedom to protect ours, the
Cripple Creek Rally is attended by tens of thousands of bikers,
veterans, active military personnel, and patriots. There are
plenty of scenic rides in the mountains surrounding Cripple Creek, and
there is abundant evidence of the mining activity that took place in the
area during the gold mining era. Cripple Creek is also a gambling
town, so you'll find lots of casino gaming action and western-style
lodging facilities. Attractions include the Salute to American
Veterans Parade, Veterans Poker Run, military flyovers, marching bands,
tattoo competition, wet tee-shirt contests, bike show, live music,
outdoor beer gardens, plenty of casino gaming, and countless vendors.
This rally fills Cripple Creek to capacity, so make your travel plans
are early as possible.
Four Corners Rally in the Rockies:
Late August/Early September 2007 (Durango, Colorado) - Recently,
this rally has attracted around 50,000 attendees into the rally grounds
and approximately 100,000 bikers to the Durango area. Held at the
Echo Basin Ranch near Durango, Rally in the Rockies is one of the
largest rallies in the Rocky Mountains. Characterized by scenic
mountain rides, the area is also known for unpredictable weather and
bikers are advised to bring rain gear, cool weather clothing, and
leathers. Area sightseeing includes mining towns such as Silverton
and Mesa Verde National Park. Attractions of this rally include
major live bands, the nearby Sky Ute Casino, custom chopper giveaway,
mini chopper giveaway, male and female professional wrestling, a poker
run, , biker bull busting, tattoo contest, arm wrestling, biker field
events, biker girl wrestling, and a Go-Go girl style cage dancing
competition. Needless to say, this rally is a major party in the
Rockies.

Salute to American Veterans Rally -
August 17 - 19, 2007 Winter Park, Colorado. The
Salute to American Veterans is moving in 2007 from Cripple Creek to
Winter Park Colorado. The Cripple Creek Salute to American Veterans
Rally is a POW/MIA rally and also one of the best Colorado motorcycle
rallies. During the ride in and once you are at the Cripple Creek
motorcycle rally, there is amazing scenery while you ride in the
Colorado Mountains. The Cripple Creek area of Colorado has winding
mountain roads in an area filled with pine trees and a lot of historic
mining sites for you to check out. Another cool thing that you can enjoy
while at the Cripple Creek POW/MIA rally is the low stakes gambling
allowed in Cripple Creek Colorado and in some of the other old mining
towns. Since this bike rally is city wide it is a free event. The
Cripple Creek area has limited space and the motorcycle rally has grown
to the point where the town is packed to maximum capacity, so get your
room or vendor space early. The rooms available are in historic looking
buildings and many have casinos so you are close to the gambling.
Because of affects that the mountains cause on the weather you need to
be prepared for rain and potentially cool evenings. At the time of
writing the official events and times have not been finalized, but there
are some traditional Salute to American Veterans rally events including:
a huge POW/MIA parade including floats, a POW/MIA Recognition Ride,
motorcycle rodeo, a ride in bike show, live music, poker run, wet t
shirt contest, and a military fighter plane flyover. Another big draw is
the Cripple Creek tattoo competition. Vendors at the Cripple rally will
be lining the streets and in the parking lots. Because Cripple Creek is
on a hill if it rains there will not be standing water.
