Biketoberfest, held annually in October, is another tourism event that
attracts motorcycle enthusiasts from around the world to the Daytona
Beach area. Bikertoberfest, which is known for its family-oriented
activities, draws about 60,000 motorcycle enthusiasts to the area
annually. Biketoberfest is unique from other motorcycle enthusiast
festivals in that you don't have to own a motorcycle in order to have a
good time. Events such as the Daytona Harley-Davidson Seafood Festival,
championship racing at Daytona International Speedway, numerous street
festivals and concerts, as well as the area's popular tourist
attractions, give riders and non-riders plenty to see and do during
their stay. What also sets Biketoberfest apart is that it is a very
family-friendly event. Over the years we have seen the number of
families enjoying Biketoberfest grow, says Janet Kersey, director of
tourism events and bureau services for the Daytona Beach Area Convention
and Visitors Bureau and the "birthmom" of Biketoberfest.
Motorcycle enthusiasts won't want to leave the Daytona Beach area
without taking a ride through "The Loop"-- a 22-mile course through the
area that is a must for riders who enjoy an open road and Florida's
natural beauty. This scenic course begins north of Beach Street off of
Granada Boulevard in Ormond Beach and runs north through rural and
forested areas such as Tomoka State Park and Bulow Campgrounds.
Throughout The Loop, riders can expect to see Florida swamplands,
beautiful tree-lined boulevards and exquisite riverfront estates without
the worry of traffic lights. |
